Del Monte Decides on Armagard Stainless Steel Computer Enclosures
About Del Monte
Founded more than 130 years ago, Del Monte is one of the USA’s largest producers, distributors and marketers of processed food.
With production and distribution facilities across several continents, including North America, Africa, Europe and South America, Del Monte is an established global brand and supplies many of the world’s biggest names.
As part of an IT upgrade, Del Monte needed waterproof computer protection across three of its food production facilities. Processing tons of fresh fruit on a daily basis, each site has a regular wash down process in place to maintain hygiene standards. With this in mind, Del Monte required a solution suitable for use in a wash down environment.
Del Monte’s aim was to avoid damaging computers during the wash down process in order to reduce the risk of downtime, prevent paying repair/replacement costs and limit maintenance requirements. The overall objective was to facilitate a smooth IT equipment upgrade and improve productivity.
Del Monte decided to install 13, wash down ready, SENC-900 computer enclosures, complete with an integrated membrane keyboard and DuraPoint mouse. Sealed to IP66 industry standards, the waterproof SENC-900 can protect IT equipment during heavy wash down processes, including jet or pressure washing cycles!
Manufactured using food grade (316) stainless steel, the SENC-900 enclosure system has a high resistance to corrosion and staining, plus it has antibacterial properties, making it suitable for use across Del Monte’s food production facilities. The enclosure further protects against external damage threats, including dust and food debris.
Featuring a shatterproof, polycarbonate viewing window, Armagard’s SENC-900 enclosures provide protection against forceful impacts, preventing screen breakages and potential production line contamination.
Meanwhile, the enclosure’s internal fans ensure that Del Monte’s IT equipment continues to operate at a stable temperature, reducing the strain on computer and monitor components and extending their lifespan.
For more than 10 years, Armagard’s SENC-900 waterproof enclosures have protected Del Monte’s IT equipment, while giving them the flexibility to upgrade their computer technology as needed.
Del Monte now has a low maintenance, fully waterproof solution that suits the operational demands of their food production facilities, while maintaining hygiene standards and improving productivity.
Benefits for Del Monte
Ultimately, Armagard’s SENC-900 gives Del Monte a flexible solution for computer use on the food production floor, compared to using a purpose-built industrial computer system.
Del Monte can upgrade IT equipment at their convenience, without being at the mercy of the manufacturer to perform maintenance or upgrade software.
Long-term, the SENC-900 cuts costs and increases the lifespan of Del Monte’s computer equipment, while enhancing productivity and maintaining hygiene standards.
Del Monte’s IT Infrastructure Manager, Colin Doe, said: “In a food factory environment, where hygiene is essential, we needed a solution that could survive a regular wash down cycle, while providing impenetrable protection for vital IT equipment. Armagard’s enclosures more than meet the challenge.”
